Need a fun weekend getaway this summer? Put Boise, Idaho at the top of your list of places to go! ✈️ 🥔 ❤️
From one “busy” woman to another…
Sometimes the best thing you can do during a slow season is to get away and take your mind off of things. Seriously! Okay, so maybe you don’t have tons of money to go on that dream vacation to Italy, where you can not only eat your way through Napoli, but also through all of those feelings of defeat that have been consuming you too. Sounds like it would do the trick, but you really shouldn’t make impulsive decisions that will create more problems for you and your cashflow. Avoid breaking the bank and adding things to your never-ending list of worries, but do take some time to get away and enjoy the down time by traveling to a more reasonable location if you can.
I recently met my sister for a very affordable girls trip to Idaho for the weekend & here’s WHAT WE LOVED about it:
1. Downtown Boise is extremely walkable with so much to do! So many restaurants, bars, shops, and activities all over. I couldn’t get enough of it! We lucked out — the Boise Music Festival (FREE) and the Farmers Market were both happening during our visit.
2. If you love to eat, know that Boise has delicious food all around! Bacon Boise hands down has THE BEST BACON EVER! 🥓 Another cool place we went to was the Warehouse Food Hall which offers so much variety all in one spot! Grab a coffee at Caffe Darte or a lobster roll at Freshies Lobster for something quick & tasty 😋 Coming from Las Vegas, I was shocked at how inexpensive it was to eat some of the best meals I have ever had.
3. You can shop till you drop! I know, I know, I said we would keep things reasonable and not give into temptation… but the shopping in Boise is AMAZING! 🛍️ I mostly window shopped, but I did find a few items that I wanted to add to my wardrobe to maintain a fresh, professional look when I meet with my clients. There are some great boutiques like Fancy Pants & Piece Unique Clothing Co. who both carry brands that I dream of filling up my closet with & I know I will be shopping online for more later this year. Stylish + high quality = worth it! Also, really enjoyed the gift shop called Mixed Greens that carried a little bit of everything.
4. The Boise River Greenbelt is right there! I have never been anywhere that had as many people enjoying the outdoors — ride bikes or rent a scooter while you enjoy the views of the rushing Boise River. We enjoyed walking the trails that are full of greenery and flowers everywhere.
5. Last, but definitely not least! Boise, Idaho has interesting history, culture, monuments and museums that not only made for some great photos & videos, but we learned a lot too. You will find some along the greenbelt and across the Downtown Boise area, but there are a couple worth taking an Uber to. Check out my Instagram reel here to see our visit to the Old Idaho Penitentiary 🗝️ Pretty sure it’s haunted.
I am encouraging you to get up and travel, even if it’s just for a day or two… a staycation if you must. No more sulking or creating mindless busy work to feel like you’re doing something. Go somewhere with an open-mind to meet new people & experience a new (or even a familiar) location… you might be surprised by the outcome. For me, it was clarity, motivation, and the confidence to step into something I should have done a long time ago to grow my business.
BONUS! If you made it this far, the real hidden gem during my trip to Idaho was the empanadas & churasco 🥩 at Wepa Cafe. Google it!
